RTS Breaks Ground On New Facility
8/4/2023
THE REGIONAL TRANSIT SERVICE (RTS), Rochester, NY, has broken ground on its new bus maintenance facility in Wyoming County. Construction is scheduled for completion in late summer or early fall of 2024.
“This is an exciting day for RTS and public transit in Wyoming County,” said Miguel Velázquez, CEO. “The construction of this new facility will help our team carry out our mission of providing vital, safe and sustainable transportation services that connect the community and promote a better quality of life. On behalf of the entire team at RTS, I thank our congressional delegation, Governor Hochul, the New York State Department of Transportation, our New York State Legislators, the supervisors and staff from Wyoming County, the RGRTA Board of Commissioners, business partners, our construction team and the RTS Wyoming Team for making this project possible.”
When the 20,000-square-foot facility is complete, it will include nine indoor bus bays, a vehicle wash bay with an automated drive-through bus wash system, administrative office space, a break room that doubles as a training room, and designated parking.
Ninety percent of the funding for the $10.3 million project comes from the federal and state governments, with the remaining 10 percent covered by RTS.
