Connect Transit Launches Connect FLEX Service

CONNECT TRANSIT, NORMAL, IL, has launched Connect FLEX, an on-demand, corner-to-corner microtransit service in the southwest portion of Bloomington-Normal.

Connect FLEX trips are scheduled using an app that provides flexible routing based on passenger demand within a defined zone. The app will let riders select their pickup and drop off locations and pick the most convenient option provided. The app will show detailed directions to the closest pickup location (typically at a safe street corner) and an estimated pickup time. Once the passenger is picked up, the app will provide an estimated time of arrival. Those without a smartphone can book trips through a call center.

Connect FLEX hours of operation will complement the agency’s current fixed-route schedules by starting slightly before and running slightly longer to allow connections to be made.
